ST. GEORGE — A 16-year-old high school student has raised funds to bring Global Music Awards-winning violinist David Park to St. George, offering local musicians and the public a unique opportunity to watch and learn from a master.

"This is such an important opportunity for local students to be able to perform and learn skills from such a world-renowned violinist," Dixie High School student Emmett Riding said. "It's a rare opportunity for St. George to be able to host him, and I'm excited we got this chance."

The road to bring Park to the city began when Riding's own love for the violin sparked.

Growing up in a musical family, Riding said his mom wanted her kids to also be immersed in music. His musical instruction began with the piano at the age of 4, and he took lessons from concertmaster Rachel Frances until he was 7. His interest took a turn one day at church when he watched someone playing the violin for the first time, and it captivated him.
