WASHINGTON, Washington County — A motorcyclist died after colliding with another vehicle in Washington, Washington County, near Coral Canyon Blvd. and Telegraph early Sunday.

About 7 a.m., Washington police responded to reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a Jeep and began lifesaving efforts on the motorcyclist, who later died at the scene.

Early investigation indicates that the driver of the Jeep was eastbound on Telegraph and attempted to turn left onto northbound Coral Canyon Blvd. The motorcyclist was westbound, causing the rider to strike the front bumper of the vehicle and ejecting him from the bike. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to Washington police.

"At this time, it appears that the driver of the Jeep did not see the motorcycle coming as it attempted to turn. They are cooperating with the investigation at this time, and no formal charges have been submitted yet," according to a Washington police statement.

Coral Canyon Blvd. at Telegraph was closed during the ongoing investigation, but the intersection has since reopened.

The identity of the motorcyclist, a Washington County man, was not released.
