Located on Main Street, Young Powersports Layton's facility has long-stood as a community staple — and it's currently being upgraded.
The dealership is finalizing construction on a new state-of-the-art service center, and making rearrangements to accommodate for the space. That said, perhaps the most meaningful addition has nothing to do with increasing the dealership's capabilities.
Covering the roughly 80-year-old brick wall, Davis county company Adrenaline Murals has painted a piece that stands to not only represent Young Powersports, but Layton as a whole.
"During the project, at least three people a day came up to us from the street to tell us how cool this artwork is," Adrenaline Murals founder Jourdan Biesinger said. "One veteran even got emotional because residents in his area now have something like this that they can call their own. We went through several mural designs and color palette ideas and never settled until it was exactly what Young Powersports envisioned. It was worth it."
Adrenaline Murals began the project on June 14. Those who drive by will see "Layton" spelled out over a mountain landscape as well as the Discover Davis logo. Two motorcycle riders can also be found, with one near the west side of the building and another next to a garage door.
For those carefully paying attention, Biesinger's team has added several Easter eggs across the mural. Some of these include a Chevrolet and a USPS logo that represent the building's history, as well as a Swan Princess that serves as a tribute to one of the Young Automotive Group's owners. They've also hidden a "t" in the art work — a reference to jokes about how locals typically miss the letter when they pronounce the city's name.
"We wanted this project to not only serve as an homage to our amazing area, but something that features some powersports flair as well," Young Powersports Layton general manager Justin Custis said. "This mural lives up to that. It adds to the customer experience of our dealership and highlights what makes us special."
A Davis County company and two-time Best of State winner, Biesinger found her niche working on commercial mural projects with her team. They've created work for several clients in Utah such as Adobe, Walmart and BYU, as well as others across the country.

Custis says that the dealership hired Adrenaline Murals not only because of their impressive art, but their dedication to professionalism as well.
"There are so many talented mural and graffiti artists with signature styles. Utah needed something different," Biesinger said. "We are different because we have a mural design process to make art that represents our clients' unique brand and goals in a huge variety of styles. If they can dream it, we can paint it. We also function more like a painting contractor with safety, compliance and deadlines in mind so that businesses can maintain peace of mind."
The Young Automotive Group has been celebrating 100 years of operation throughout 2024, and Young Powersports Layton's building has played a significant role in their history. Not only has it housed one of their earliest powersports dealerships, but their first Layton Chevrolet location as well.
Young Powersports will host a celebration for the mural on July 17 at 12 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
"We can't wait to share what's here with the community," Custis said. "This isn't meant to be just a new piece of our dealership, but the city as a whole. We hope to see people connect with it for years to come."
