LAND OF FIRE AND ICE — If I were on the marketing team for a drone manufacturer, I'd always be looking for ways to showcase the precision and durability of our products. Perhaps one campaign would brag about the pinpoint control offered, while others would focus on the obstacle avoidance sensors and battery life.

But nothing we'd ever produce would come close to the persuasive power of this:

Can you imagine what the pitch meeting would be like if you were going to create a promotional video like this?

While this video might be over the top for a marketing campaign, it's fascinating to see in real life. According to the description, the footage was captured in Iceland and it "got a little too close and a 2000C lava rock hit my drone mid-air."

"My drone started spinning and I thought it was gone but I managed to regain control and brought it back to me with only a scratch on the GoPro, which I still use to this day!" the caption says.

Wow. If I ever get a drone, I guess I'll have to buy whatever model this person was piloting.
