ST. GEORGE — The city of St. George has been awarded a $10 million low-interest loan for a multistory parking structure that is to be built next to the new city hall.

Projected to be four levels and 300 parking stalls, the new parking structure will join the one on Tabernacle Street and another currently being built on 200 East by the new Washington County Administrative Building.

Like the current and incoming parking structures, the new one is touted as a way to help alleviate parking needs in the downtown area.

According to a press release, the low-interest loan is being provided by the Permanent Community Impact Board, which awards grants and low-interest loans to cities, towns and counties from funds directed to the CIB from mining and oil and gas extraction on federal land.
