The LPGA is headed to Utah. As golf fans know, it is a very big deal for a course to be chosen for the professional circuit. Most people might think of courses like Aviara in California or Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii when they think LPGA.
Beginning in 2025, Black Desert Resort in Ivins will add their name to this highly esteemed list.
"We are thrilled to welcome Black Desert Resort into the LPGA family as a tournament partner and title sponsor," says Ricki Lasky, LPGA chief tour business and operations officer. "This spectacular venue will undoubtedly provide an incredible test to our LPGA Tour athletes. We also greatly appreciate the dedication of the Black Desert Resort team to elevating the stature of the women's game by making this partnership a key element of their corporate platform as they welcome golf fans to their venue for the first time this week."
About the stunning course
Black Desert Resort stands alone in its unique aesthetic—lush emerald fairways surrounded by ancient black lava fields, all set against a stunning backdrop of southern Utah red rock.

Tom Weiskopf, in collaboration with architect Phil Smith, designed the par-72 course that prioritizes playability, featuring generously wide fairways ranging from 70 to 100 yards. Notably, Weiskopf's signature touch brings strategic elements and risk-reward choices into play with two drivable par fours—the fifth and 14th holes.
The brand-new course opened its doors in May 2023. Black Desert Resort Golf Course is characterized by the presence of ancient basalt rock formations seamlessly integrated into the landscape, creating a visually stunning contrast against the lush fairways. Weiskopf's design captures the spirit of the surrounding natural wonders, offering a captivating golfing experience that goes beyond tradition.
Moving the LPGA forward
The popularity of the LPGA has never been better.
According to stats from the LPGA, an average of 60,000 in-person spectators flock to each event, and each LPGA broadcast averages 3.4 million unique viewers across all broadcasting platforms. Black Desert Resort has an opportunity to be at the forefront of the growing popularity of women's golf.
"Black Desert is excited to join in furthering the elevation of women's golf. It's historic that it's been almost 60 years, to the day, since an LPGA tournament was held in the great state of Utah," says Patrick Manning, Managing Partner of Black Desert Resort.

Open to the public–for now
Because the resort just made its grand entry into the St. George golf scene, anyone from the public is invited to purchase a tee time through November 2024. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery and warm weather with family and friends for a limited time. Be sure to book and play soon—after November 2024, the course will prioritize resort guests.
More than just golf
Beyond the golf course, Black Desert Resort is envisioned as a comprehensive luxury resort destination. The first phase of Black Desert includes its hotel, 1,050 residences, miles of on-property trails for exploration and adventure, a wellness spa for relaxation, 15 restaurants, and 80,000 square feet of retail space for shopping and dining.
Black Desert Resort Golf Course is a tribute to Tom Weiskopf's enduring legacy while exemplifying the resort's unwavering dedication in creating an awe-inspiring golfing experience in southern Utah.
