THE SPOOKY ESCALATOR — While I have started to grow tired of superhero movies, I will never grow weary of kids acting like real heroes. When my son was about 5, someone tried to break into our home while we were gone. As you can imagine, it scared us a bit, and his older and younger sisters were shaken.
A couple of days later, we went for a family walk around the neighborhood. His sisters were nervous about leaving the house. My son put on his Batman PJs and a Batman mask and said, "Don't worry. I'll protect you from bad guys because I'm Batman."
He then ran around the neighborhood, jumping off curbs and trying to run fast enough to make his cape flap in the wind. My son was a real hero that day, just like the little guy in this video.
A man set up a camera and pretended to be scared to get on the escalator — to see how people would react. One man kindly tried to help and the helpful man's son watched with a Batman mask sitting atop his head. At one point, the boy reaches out for the man's hand and says, "Relax, I am here." He then puts on the mask and continues, "Don't worry, I'm Batman."
He then holds the man's hand the rest of the way down the escalator.
I may be rapidly approaching my limit on superhero movies. Still, I will never hit my limit of seeing people like this mini-Batman and his father being everyday heroes.
Take inspiration from this dynamic duo and see how you can be a hero today.
