THE GREAT WHITE NORTH – Stand-up paddleboarding isn't always as easy as it might appear from shore. You'll see someone gliding across the water like some sort of aquatic gazelle and you think, "That looks so effortless and relaxing."
Then, you try it out for yourself. Perhaps your first experience on a paddleboard was serene. Mine wasn't. I spent the entire time clambering around the board and toppling into the water. Definitely more ostrich-like than gazelle-like.
But all that chaos would immediately pay off if I had an experience like the folks in this video:
According to the video's description, this delightful beluga whale encounter occurred in Churchill, Manitoba.
"These whales migrate here every summer and can be found in the Churchill River in June, July, August and September," wrote the original poster. "They are curious and playful creatures."
You know what impresses me most? The fact that marine mammals were repeatedly bumping into the paddleboard, and the woman never lost her balance. If a whale had so much as sneezed on me while I was making my stand-up attempt, I would've been a goner.
Have You Seen This?
