ST. GEORGE — A parolee who spent more than a decade in prison for the 2002 murder of a St. George man is in jail on a no-bail hold following a hit-and-run crash reported on Friday.
Officers responded to a report of a disorderly individual involved in an altercation with a group of people near the corner of 100 South and 500 West, following what was reported as a hit-and-run crash that took place shortly before 4 p.m. a few blocks away in St. George.
Minutes later, several police units arrived to find a large crowd gathered in the street and several people fighting, including the suspect, later identified as Koda Quest Lanza, 38, who reportedly matched the description of the driver seen fleeing from the scene of the crash minutes earlier, according to the probable cause statement filed in support of the arrest.
As soon as the first police units arrived on scene, the report states, the suspect started to walk away. When officers ordered the man to stop, Lanza reportedly failed to comply until one of the officers pulled his taser from the holster and the suspect was detained while officers processed the scene.
