Snowbasin believes that everyone should have the opportunity to try, enjoy and pursue the sport of skiing or snowboarding — no matter their background, friend group or socioeconomic status. One of the ski resort's main goals is to remove these barriers of entry by creating a pathway to sustainably grow the beloved sport within the community.

Enter: the Snowbasin Learn and Earn program.

The program debuted in the 2015–2016 season and has been going strong ever since. The goal is to bring brand new guests to the sport and convert them into lifelong enthusiasts over the course of a three-year tailored experience.

After hearing how it works and what's included, you'll want to sign up as soon as you can!

Save big on your first skiing experience

For newbie skiers who want to know why millions of visitors hit the slopes each year, this is your chance to see what the fuss is all about. The Learn and Earn program is designed for first-time skiers and snowboarders and provides lessons and equipment at a great value.

The three-year program saves guests around 70% (over $1,500) off the cost to purchase each component of the program separately. Plus, once the lessons are over, you also get a season pass so you can continue to refine your newfound set of skills for months to come.

How the program is structured

With each successive year of the Learn and Earn program, you get even more benefits. Year one includes three lessons, one seasonal rental package and a season pass after instruction.

After completing year one, you're eligible to participate in year two. This also includes three lessons and a season pass — but now you get to keep your gear, which means you'll be skiing virtually for free the rest of the season.

And finally, year three includes a season pass plus one all-day private lesson for adults and one three-hour private lesson for youth.

At the end of three years, you'll be carving up the mountainside like a pro with all the gear you need — and have $1,500 more in your pocket than if you'd opted to ski without any instruction at all.

National recognition for the program

In case you had any doubts that this program was worth your time and money, this should put those fears to rest. The Learn and Earn program took home the National Ski Areas Association's 2022 Conversion Cup, an award created to address the industry's overall goal of growing the sport by introducing newcomers to skiing and riding. Snowbasin is the first ski area to have earned this prestigious recognition twice since the inception of the award in 2010.
