THE LIVING ROOM — Have you ever pulled off the perfect prank? For me, it was during my sophomore year of college. My roommates and I had been mired in a monthslong prank war with some girls at our apartment complex, and they crossed the line by pouring honey all over our couches and living room carpet.
Seriously. There was no real prank involved in this honey attack. No clever "gotcha" moment. It was just vandalism, plain and simple.
We realized that the only way to end this war was to launch a prank of epic proportions. The ringleader of the girls' apartment never locked her car, so we sneaked into it one night and poured flour in the air conditioning vents. Carefully wiping away all traces of the powder from the dashboard and outside of the vents, we then turned the vehicle's air conditioning on full blast.
Just for good measure, we also cranked up the radio and turned on the windshield wipers.
We knew the girls would be leaving for class around 8 a.m., so we hid in the parking lot and watched as they sleepily clambered into the car. As soon as the key turned in the ignition, chaos ensured.
First, flour filled the inside of the car like a vengeful cumulus cloud. Then the radio and windshield wipers combined to create a cacophony that almost drowned out the confused screams coming from inside.
In retrospect, we probably went too far with our flour prank. But it served its purpose. The prank war ended and we're still friends with those girls to this day.
But there are times when a prank completely falls flat. Exhibit "A" is the air mattress prank from this video:
Launched successfully.

It's easy to see why the prankster thought it'd be a good idea. But, instead of giving her friend a little jolt, she turned her into a projectile and knocked over the flat-screen TV in the process.
So let this be a warning to all of us. Never pull a prank unless you've thought it through very carefully. Otherwise, you might find yourself at Best Buy trying to replace your TV.
