TROPIC, Garfield County — A man and woman from Nebraska have both died after authorities say the motorcycle they were riding struck an antelope in southern Utah Monday morning.
Levi S. Grant, 62, and a 61-year-old woman, both of Chadron, were riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on state Route 12 about 9:45 a.m. when an antelope jumped in front of the motorcycle, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
The vehicle collided with the animal, causing the driver to lose control. Both he and the passenger were "fully ejected," troopers said.
The crash happened about 2 1/2 miles north of Tropic Junction.
Grant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to a nearby hospital and died Tuesday. Both occupants were wearing helmets but they were "heavily damaged" as a result of the crash.
