THE ESCALATOR — I am a big fan of escalators. As a guy always looking for the easy way out, this invention is really top-notch.
I mean, I have to go up or down stairs, but I don't need to put any effort into an escalator. It's pure genius.
Something else I really enjoy is drumlines. I don't like them as much as escalators, but I think they're pretty cool. I appreciate the beat, the cool drumstick twirls, the fact that the word drumstick makes me think of fried chicken, and the preciseness of the entire group's movements.
Considering I like escalators more than a friend, and I think drumlines are pretty cool, it's safe to assume I'm a big fan of this video.
For the 122nd Army-Navy football game in December 2021, the Navy drumline marched through the stadium performing around fans who were arriving for the storied game. It would have been cool to be at the game and see the drumline make its way in front of you as you're waiting for a hot dog or standing in the 35-minute line to use the stadium bathroom.
But, there is just something about seeing the Navy drumline ride down an escalator that warms my heart. I can't quite tell you why I like it so much, but that image is forever burned in my brain — and I'm OK with that. In fact, I'm more than OK with it. I think I'll be painting this image as a 97-year-old man in my slippers, as I sip warm tap water at my care facility.
I like this video.
