SPAIN — Anyone who has ever walked out onto a frozen body of water knows how nerve-wracking it can be to hear and feel the ice cracking under your feet. The terror of suddenly plummeting downward combined with the shock of frigid water makes falling through ice one of my greatest fears.
So when a dog in Spain wandered out onto a frozen reservoir, it would be logical to think that the unfortunate animal would perish. But not on these officers' watch!
The two police officers spotted the frantic animal as it thrashed in the water. Tossing their shirts (and their personal safety) aside, they jumped in to carry out the rescue.
Those brave men honestly amaze me, as you can almost feel the cold seeping through the screen as you watch this video. And it does my heart good to think about the happy reunion the dog had with its owner after the officers safely extracted it from the lake.
The world can be a dark place, but there are plenty of bright spots if you look in the right places.
