MIDVALE — A wedding guest died following a shooting in the area of the wedding in Midvale, Unified Police said.

The shooting happened in the area of 145 E. Fort Union Blvd. around 11:26 p.m. Saturday, Unified Police said.

Upon arrival, police found 28-year-old Oscar Avila, of Midvale, on the ground bleeding.

Wedding guests, as well as law enforcement, attempted life-saving measures, but Avila was declared deceased by Unified Authority Fire.

Police are calling Avila's death a homicide.

Police are still looking for a suspect, Unified Police said.
