THE KITCHEN — Did you know that moms are people too?
It may take us a while to realize this as we grow up, but it's true.
When we're young, moms seem omniscient. She certainly seems god-like because your tiny human fate seems to be entirely in her hands (dads and other loved parental figures too, but we're talking about moms).
As a result of moms being our safe place as well as our drill sergeants, some of us did everything we could do to be mom pleasers. It's clear that moms deserve to be happy, but it's often also very real that for the most part we didn't want to be anywhere on the spectrum of being lectured to yelled at.
In this video, one small child shows what she will do for her mom's happiness — eat mom's less than palatable cooking.
This sweet girl takes a bite and mom asks if it's good. "Yes," the wee one says, "it is good."
But as in many life instances, actions speak louder than words.
The girl keeps chewing with a smile on her face when a grimace appears for a fraction of a second. The smile returns, but her body betrays her disgust with a serious example of a gag reflex (don't worry, no barf is featured).
Even after that horrible feeling of almost barfing, the smile returns, and she once again has a smile on her face, saying she's alright and the food is, indeed, good. Bless her heart!
Let this be a strange but real way to wish Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, whether or not they are good cooks.
