THE STREET — If you were making a movie, who would be your dream celebrity cameo?

For many nerds of a certain type, the answer would be the legend that first took the helm of the Star Wars empire, director George Lucas.

Lucas has made a handful of cameos during his career as a director, mostly in his own films or in the films of his long-time friend Steven Spielberg. He's not really recognizable in most of his cameos (that I could find), excepting "Beverly Hills Cop 3" in 1994.

But being the Hollywood legend that he is, it's easy to imagine that many people would like a Lucas appearance in their films. Still, chances are you wouldn't even get a call, email or letter to the man himself to ask.

It turns out some obscure documentary filmmakers got the Lucas cameo, only they weren't even trying.

This video is a clip of a short documentary called "Nuclear Waste: Fission Products & Transuranics from Thorium & Uranium." Not exactly a blockbuster title.

As host Bruce Hoglund does a walk-and-talk, speaking about something called "pyroprocessing," suddenly a wild George Lucas appears. He steps off the curb on a Chicago street, looks straight into the camera, and keeps walking to enter a building. The Force was definitely with Hoglud. (Sorry, had to).

The clip is weirdly surreal. At first, it almost seems like Lucas is going to approach the camera then changes his mind at the last second.

This clip first went viral in 2016, but it's easy to see why it's making the rounds in 2021.
