"Some of the most beautiful praises of the Savior are found in Christmas songs," says Elaine Bradley, host BYUtv's holiday special A Grace Notes Christmas. "Music has a real power to focus our minds and hearts on the true meaning of Christmas, which is the birth of Christ."
On her hit show Grace Notes (currently airing Sunday mornings on BYUtv), Bradley engages in conversations of faith with various artists from different musical genres. A Grace Notes Christmas is similar in format, but with never-before-seen performances by season one guests, and candid reveals by Bradley about why the Christmas season means so much to her.
Guests include violinist Lindsey Stirling, folk-pop band The National Parks, vocal trio Gentri, pianist Paul Cardall, gospel-folk performers the Lower Lights, a cappella group Vocal Point, and many more. Bradley, widely known as the drummer for the band Neon Trees, also performs percussion and backup vocals for Alex Boye's stirring rendition of "Mary, Did You Know?"
From Jenny Oaks Baker & Family Four's richly layered "The First Noel" to Travis Greene's inspiring performance of "Joy to the World," viewers will enjoy an hour of praiseful music that speaks to the soul, bypassing the holiday bustle that often obscures from us the reason for the season.
"My favorite thing about Christmas hymns is the power that they have to take the light and the spirit of Christ and deliver that directly into to our hearts," says Bradley.
"I think it's wonderful that people of all different communities and backgrounds during Christmastime will come together through the singing of these hymns, and be made to feel lighter and made to turn their focus outward through these hymns. I just love it."
A Grace Notes Christmas is an intimate and worshipful celebration of the birth of the Savior unlike anything else on television.
The special premieres Sunday, December 6 at 5:00 pm MT, and will be available to stream for free on the BYUtv app.
