With tourism options limited to those within the United States, international travelers' passports are most likely collecting dust in a drawer somewhere. However, just because the borders are currently closed doesn't mean people aren't getting out of town and seeing the great outdoors.

A couple weeks ago I made the four hour trip to Moab, Utah to see the national parks and explore Utah's backcountry. While I didn't need my passport to experience it all, I wish I had the 2021 Honda Passport to amplify my experience.

During my test drive of the 2021 Honda Passport, I had the chance to climb through the colorful roads of East Canyon, drive around town and just go about my normal activities. In all of those situations, there were a few things that stood out to me.

Three of my favorite features are the spacious interior, impressive horsepower and ample cargo space.

Spacious interior

I normally drive a small sedan, which suits my needs on an everyday basis. But until I sat in the Passport, I didn't realize what I am missing out on.

The roomy interior is luxurious—when you have to fit five people in a smaller car, it feels too cozy. My sister sat with me in the Passport on a drive, and her first comment was complimenting the extra room she had at her feet, in the backseat, and between herself and me.

Ample cargo space

If you're someone who enjoys throwing camping gear in the back and heading out on weekend adventures, you'll thoroughly enjoy the cargo space in the 2021 Honda Passport. Without the third row of seats (see the Honda Pilot for that option), you have extra room for luggage, gear, bikes, skis and anything else you want to bring along.

Dog parents will love the space and height for the bigger furry family members—even if they travel in a kennel.

"There's 41 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seat, which held 15 of our carry-on suitcases. Folding that row unlocks 78 cubes of room and the capacity to carry 33 bags total. Interior cubby storage in general is great thanks to useful bins throughout the cabin and a huge center-console bin," reports Car and Driver.

Impressive power

Like I mentioned earlier, I drive a 1.8-liter engine car, and I dread going up Big Cottonwood Canyon because my car just doesn't have the power to climb the incline like the trucks and SUVs passing me. But I actually had a great time driving the Passport through East Canyon because it never felt like a decline or incline—every second felt calm, controlled and even.

Of course, that added measure of comfort is due to the 3.5-liter V-6 engine packed under the hood. With theses kind of specs, you can haul up to 5,000 pounds (in the AWD version), making your active lifestyle all the more possible.

Another great feature about the performance is the option to choose your terrain. With a push of a button, you can choose between normal road driving, snow, mud or sand.

My favorite smaller details

As anyone who drives a car knows, it's the little, thoughtful details that make a car personal. For me, I appreciated the optional armrests in both front seats, the fact that the car sits high up, and the touch screen is a whopping 8 inches, according to Car and Driver.

I loved the underfloor storage in the cargo space of the car; I liked to keep my purse tucked away and out of sight in that storage compartment.

The 2021 Honda Passport also has some great safety features such as Honda's standard Lane Keeping Assist System and the cruise control Sensing Suite. This suite of features will slow your car down if another driver cuts you off or enters your lane too close to your car. As many people know, all it takes is a few seconds for something to go terribly wrong, and your 2021 Honda Passport can help you react before you even realize what's happening.

Picture perfect Passport

Unlike unflattering photos on personal passports, the 2021 Honda Passport is sleek, smooth and svelt. Edmunds describes it as "the best-looking of the Honda SUV bunch thanks to its more aggressive fascia and athletic stance."

If you're in the market for an athletic car that can hang with the toughest of adventurers, look no farther than the 2021 Honda Passport. With room to store all of your favorite people and all of your gear, you won't find a more comfortable, luxurious ride out there. Visit your local Honda dealer today to test drive the 2021 Honda Passport.
