In the midst of all the financial challenges we're hearing about on the news, today we had a welcome story about how happiness is contagious. Fight it if you must, but being around a happy person might just rub off on you whether you want it to or not. There is actually a new study out that shows how working with a happy person, living next to a happy person, and being married to a happy person are likely to affect your overall happiness. Why???? The leader of the Salvation Army corps in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, will lose his job if he goes ahead with plans to marry outside the organization. Capt. Johnny Harsh is engaged to a woman who's not affiliated with the Salvation Army. They're planning to marry in June, despite the Christian group's rule that a Salvation Army officer may only marry another officer. Harsh became engaged after losing his wife, Capt. Yalanda Harsh, to complications of a heart attack last June. And while he's been aware of the marriage restriction, he thinks it's unfair. Salvation Army Advisory Board member Helen Lord Burr says the organization's rules are the same all over the world.

Your plane is late? Or maybe the airline has lost your luggage? Well, you can still sing a happy tune, even if you are a frustrated traveler. At least in Houston. The Bush International Airport is setting up karaoke booths. The musical distraction is just in time for the holiday travel rush. Caroline Schneider is assistant airport manager for customer service. She says they have a lot of rookie travelers this time of year. So, they might want to sing while they wait. This won't be "American Idol" on the tarmac. But Schneider says the traveling vocalists will be given small prizes.
