PALO ALTO, Calif., Sep 11, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The board of Hewlett-Packard Co. met Monday to respond to the directors' spying scandal that appears to be threatening the chairwoman's job.
California authorities are investigating reports that HP hired detectives to find which directors were leaking sensitive information to journalists. Those detectives, reportedly, hired third parties, who then used deception to gain access to the directors' phone records.
Patricia Dunn, the company's non-employee chairwoman on whose watch the detectives were hired, has volunteered to resign but only if the board asks her to.
The board released a statement Monday confirming it had met Sunday and was meeting again Monday.
