SALT LAKE CITY — A high wind warning was issued on Friday for Utah County and a wind advisory was also in effect for the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning was in effect for Utah County through midnight with the main threat areas being Lehi, American Fork, Saratoga Springs and Utah Lake. Wind gusts reaching 65 mph were expected.

For the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys, the wind advisory was to be in effect until midnight with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
As of 10:20 p.m., more than 6,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers were without power across Salt Lake and Tooele counties.

Heavy rainfall and flash flooding were possible along parts of the Wasatch Front, officials said.
Power lines in West Jordan near 1200 W. 9000 South were knocked down about 7:15 p.m. by the wind, causing a power outage in the area.
Wind knocked some power lines out near 1200 W. 9000 S. Power is out in the area. Intersections at 90th and 13th and 90th and Redwood effected. It will take a few hrs to fix. Please use caution in the area with traffic. Thanks.

Intersections at 9000 South and 1300 West, as well as 9000 South and Redwood Road were impacted by the outage as well, West Jordan police said.
The outage was expected to take hours to fix.
