HARRISON FORD’S LATEST FLYING MISHAP

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (AP) — If you had a parent who was 77 and had a series of minor mishaps behind the wheel, would you consider taking their car keys away? What if, instead, the person having the mishaps was a world-famous actor — and the incidents involved flying aircraft? Over the past several years, Harrison Ford has had a series of in-air incidents. The latest was last Friday, when he crossed a runway where another plane was trying to land. The actor says through a rep that he misheard a tower instruction. The incident is under investigation.

HARRISON FORD HAS HAD SEVERAL AIR INCIDENTS

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (AP) — Last week’s air incident involving Harrison Ford isn’t the first time he’s has had trouble while piloting an aircraft. This past Friday, he crossed a runway another plane was about land on. In 2017, he flew low over an airliner with 116 people aboard, then mistakenly landed on a taxiway. And in 2015, the “Star Wars” actor was injured when his vintage plane crashed on a golf course. Investigators say the crash was caused by a mechanical problem — not by the pilot.

BROADWAY ACTOR SERENADES FRONT-LINE WORKERS

NEW YORK (AP) — Theaters are shuttered, but somehow, Brian Stokes Mitchell has found a way to keep singing on Broadway. The veteran stage star with a velvety baritone opens his apartment window every night — fittingly on Broadway, a few miles up from the theater district — and sings his signature song, “The Impossible Dream,” to honor health-care and other front-line workers. Sometimes, ambulance or fire crews get out of their vehicles to watch. Mitchell's quest is personal; he recently recovered from a tough bout with the coronavirus. The message of his nightly serenades: beating the virus is not an impossible dream.

ANOTHER EVENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADS

NEW YORK (AP) — Because of the coronavirus, this year’s high school and college grads will have to go without things like commencement exercises, proms and other joyous events. One thing they won’t lack however: celebrity-driven ways to make up for the memories they’ll lose. The latest to put together an event is LeBron James, with musical assists from H.E.R., Pharrell Williams, Bad Bunny and the Jonas Brothers. “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020,” will be on all four major TV networks — and about every major online platform you can think of.

JOHN BOLTON BOOK DELAYED AGAIN

NEW YORK (AP) — At first, former national security adviser John Bolton seemed to be angling for just the right time to release his memoir. Now, there are signs the window may be closing on him. Bolton teased the book during President Trump’s impeachment — when it was due out in March. But it was delayed two months. Now, it’s been moved from May 12 to June 23. Bolton has said Trump urged him to withhold military aid to Ukraine to get Kiev officials to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, now the likely Democratic challenger to Trump in November. But with the coronavirus pandemic, there seems to be little appetite for new revelations about the issues raised during the impeachment trial.
