MURRAY — A woman was shot by an officer on Thursday afternoon inside her unit at Stillwater Apartments, 5560 S. Vine St., Murray police said.
The woman suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, officers said.
Police responded to the apartment complex about 1 p.m. after a man called for assistance in checking on the woman, Murray police officer Kenny Bass said.
The woman fired one shot from inside the apartment, leading the officer to call for backup.
Police went inside the woman’s apartment and an officer shot her, Bass said.
She was transported to a hospital with injuries.
Details about what led up to the shooting weren't immediately available.
The officer who shot the woman has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
West Valley City Police Department is conducting the investigation.
Police have possibly had run-ins with this woman before, Bass said.
“We have had a couple of recent calls in the last week with an individual that matched this description,” Bass said.
Police said the woman was seen last week walking around the apartment complex with a firearm.
