SANDY — A 34-year-old man was killed on Tuesday night in a crash on the 10600 South overpass, Sandy police said.

About 7:42 p.m. a Mitsubishi Mirage was eastbound on 10600 at the border of South Jordan and Sandy, according to Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen.

The Mitsubishi was turning left onto the northbound I-15 on-ramp when a westbound Kia Sorento broadsided it, killing the Mitsubishi’s 34-year-old passenger.

The man’s name was not released.

The Mitsubishi was driven by an 18-year-old man, whose condition wasn’t immediately available.

The Kia Sorento’s 19-year-old driver and two 15-year-old passengers were transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Nielsen said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The northbound off-ramp to westbound lanes was closed and eastbound 10600 South through traffic was open.

The southbound off-ramp to eastbound lanes was also closed as well as the eastbound on-ramp to northbound I-15.

Traffic impacts were expected to be cleared at 12:30 a.m., according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
