MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Bernie Sanders held a small lead over Pete Buttigieg Tuesday night as final results were coming in in the New Hampshire Democratic primary. Amy Klobuchar was running third, while Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden were vying for fourth. Neither Warren nor Biden was on track to receive any delegates. Both said they would stay in the race, and Biden was already in next-up South Carolina. The results were culling the Democratic field. Andrew Yang has dropped out, and so has Michael Bennet. President Donald Trump easily won the Republican primary against token opposition and will take on the Democratic national winner in November..

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Joe Biden has brought his wounded presidential campaign to South Carolina, staking his hopes for a comeback on the loyalty of black voters after a dismal finish in the New Hampshire primary magnified his disappointing finish in Iowa. Biden says, “I know this is going to be the fight of my life.” But the former vice president is promising a vigorous comeback as the primary race moves beyond the overwhelmingly white opening states to Nevada, South Carolina and a Super Tuesday slate where African Americans and Latinos will hold considerable sway.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The four lawyers who prosecuted Roger Stone have quit the case after the Justice Department overruled them and said it would take the extraordinary step of lowering the amount of prison time it would seek for President Donald Trump’s longtime ally and confidant. The resignations raise immediate questions over whether Trump had at least indirectly exerted his will on a Justice Department that he often views as an arm of the White House. The president had blasted the original sentencing recommendation as “very horrible and unfair." Both he and the Justice Department say there was no communication.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is suggesting that the Pentagon review the conduct of a former White House national security aide who played a central role in the Democrats' impeachment case. Until last week Army Lt. Col. Alex Vindman was detailed to the White House as a National Security Council aide. He testified before the House impeachment panel that Trump inappropriately pushed Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and son Hunter Biden. Trump says that any discipline of Vindman is up to the Pentagon but that he expects commanders to “take a look" at his conduct.

WASHINGTON (AP) — White House national security adviser Robert O'Brien says he's cautiously optimistic that there could be a reduction in violence agreement with the Taliban over the next several days or weeks, but a withdrawal of American forces is not “imminent.” A person familiar with the ongoing discussions says the U.S. and the Taliban are poised to agree to stop attacks for seven days _ a move aimed at paving way to all-Afghan negotiations to end the decades-long conflict. The person was not authorized to publicly discuss the talks and spoke only on condition of anonymity.
