SALT LAKE CITY — Interstate 15 has reopened after being closed Thursday and Friday between Baker, California, and the Nevada state line, according to the state’s transportation agency, Caltrans.
The closure affected about 45 miles of highway, the Associated Press reported, and impacted holiday travelers moving between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
A winter storm has wreaked havoc on the region, and Caltrans tweeted Friday that crews were “working to remove 3 feet of snow and ice.” The agency announced the reopening of the freeway on Twitter shortly after 10 a.m.
I-15 is now fully open at Mountain Pass between Baker and Primm. Both directions open. Enjoy and be safe everyone. Thank you for your patience.

KSL TV reported Thursday that there were “almost 200 slide-offs and stuck vehicles” on the highway. The closure stranded hundreds of drivers, including Utahns, driving home after the Christmas holiday.
