KAMAS — A 2-year-old girl is in "very critical condition" after she was hit by a car on Saturday.

The girl was playing on 2700 North, also known as Upper Loop, just north of Kamas, when she was hit by a car.

According to Summitt County spokesman Lt. Andrew Wright, first responders performed CPR upon arriving at the scene.

"Pretty tragic situation even for first responders," said Wright. "Anytime a child's involved it's no fun."

The child was driven to Park City where she was transported by helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital.

"At this point, it's not good news. It sounds like she's improving, but she's in pretty bad shape," Wright said.

He added that her condition is improving as far as being able to breathe on her own, but she is considered to be in critical condition.

Additional information was not immediately available.
