HOLDEN — One man is dead after a car crash Monday morning on I-15 near Holden, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

Fred E. Baker, 75, of Deer Lodge, Montana, was southbound in a Ford RV Conversion about 7:20 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and began weaving across the road, a UHP news release stated.

Baker drifted off the road to the right and steered left, causing the car to roll once then come to a stop upright, troopers said.

No other drivers witnessed the crash, but a passerby stopped to check on the vehicle and found Baker dead in the driver’s seat, the news release stated.

On Sunday evening, Baker was contacted by Juab County deputies in Nephi because of a medical incident, troopers later learned. In that incident, Baker declined transportation to a hospital for additional observation, according to authorities.

Based on Sunday’s incident and Monday’s accident scene, troopers said they believe Baker suffered a medical incident that led to the crash.
