SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was attacked on the Jordan River Trail Thursday in the middle of the day, police say.
The woman was on the trail near 4000 South just before 2 p.m. when Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray said a man approached the woman, grabbed her and begun thrusting against her.
Gray said the woman fought against him and bit his arm, and he then ran away.
The woman immediately called police and described her attacker as a black man with medium build who was about 5’ 8” tall, Gray said.
Unified police and South Salt Lake police searched the trail and surrounding neighborhoods, but didn’t locate the alleged attacker, Gray said.
Gray said the man likely has a visible bite mark on his arm and added that Unified police investigated a series of similar attacks near the same section of the trail last summer.
Police aren’t sure if the incidents are related, but advised people to stay safe on the trail and not go to the trail alone.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-743-7000.
