DRAPER, Utah (AP) — An inmate on death row in Utah has died.
The Utah Department of Corrections says 63-year-old Floyd Maestas died of natural causes Sunday at the prison in Draper.
Maestas had been behind bars since 2008. He was convicted of aggravated murder in beating death of 72-year-old Donna Bott.
Bott suffered more than 30 separate injuries in the 2004 attack.
Authorities say Maestas and two other men had broken into her home to steal property to sell for liquor.
Maestas also had been convicted of aggravated burglary. Authorities say he robbed an elderly woman the same night Bott died.
Maestas did not have a date set for execution.
