BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A former high school and middle school teacher in Louisiana is accused of sexually abusing a student.
Al.com quotes records made public Wednesday as saying 37-year-old Joseph Allan Farmer has been indicted by a grand jury on charges including sex abuse and sodomy. The former Pinson Valley High School and Rudd Middle School teacher was arrested on the allegations in October 2017.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says a female high school student told the school's principal she had sexual contact with Farmer. She told the principal it started at the beginning of the school year and was ongoing. The sheriff's office says Farmer admitted to the allegations.
Jefferson County Schools' officials say Farmer's contract wasn't renewed. It's unclear if Farmer has a lawyer.
