SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man who drowned in a reservoir that spans the Utah-Wyoming border has been identified as a retired Salt Lake City-area police officer.

The Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake says the man who drowned Sunday while swimming at Flaming Gorge Reservoir was identified as Mikal Wersland.

The Unified Police Department said Sunday that Wersland worked for that agency after working for the South Salt Lake Police Department.
