BERLIN (AP) — Police say a 15-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in a park in the German city of Viersen and a suspect is in custody.
The dpa news agency reported that a 25-year-old Turkish man who was known to police turned himself in Monday evening.
Police say his possible involvement in the crime is under investigation.
The girl, described by police as being of Romanian origin, was stabbed midday in the Casinogarten park in the small city not far from the border with the Netherlands.
German daily newspaper Bild reported that homeless people called police after a woman stumbled in front of them and collapsed.
Police say the teenager died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
