FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) — A Utah couple that won $10,000 worth of groceries from a program that assists military families has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for unrelated theft charges at a department store where the woman worked.
The Deseret News reports Nicholas and Stephanie Mannino of Layton were sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to the charges in April.
According to court documents, Stephanie Mannino failed to ring up $5,000 worth of merchandise her husband had brought to the register while she was working as a cashier a Kohl's store in December 2016.
The couple was also sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to each pay about $1,900 in restitution to the store.
The couple was awarded a year's worth of groceries last year through Operation Homefront.
