ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A diesel mechanic has died from injuries he suffered in an explosion at a trucking facility in southern Utah.

The St. George News reports that 25-year-old Mike Cooper died after he was taken the Dixie Regional Medical Center with head injuries following the blast at DATS Trucking facility in Hurricane Monday afternoon.

Hurricane Police Officer Ken Thompson said Cooper was replacing a part on a fuel trailer inside the facility when the explosion occurred at about 1 p.m. He reportedly was unconscious when co-workers who heard the blast found him and called 911.

Thompson said there were no flames but the pressure from the eruption caused significant damage to three garage doors and part of the ceiling. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
