OAK HILL, Fla. (AP) — Investigators say a 3-year-old girl called 911 and even though the dispatcher couldn't understand her, deputies were able to find her and a younger boy who had been left alone at a Florida home with an aggressive dog and a shotgun within reach.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports their 26-year-old mother Yajaira Tirado was arrested Tuesday on two counts of child neglect. She told deputies she left the children alone while she had coffee with a man in another section of their mobile home park.
An incident reports says deputies found the little girl looking out the window, still on the telephone. The little boy was in a playpen.
She bonded out of jail, but records don't list a lawyer for her. The children were turned over to their father.
