PENNS GROVE, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey police officer seen on dashcam video kicking a handcuffed man in the head has resigned.
Penns Grove solicitor Adam Telsey tells NJ.com the resignation of Patrolman George Manganaro was accepted Tuesday night by the borough council.
Manganaro was charged with aggravated assault and was suspended over what happened early Thanksgiving morning in neighboring Carneys Point Township.
A one-minute dashcam video obtained by NJ Advance Media shows Manganaro and another officer speaking to a burglary suspect, who's handcuffed and sitting on the ground. The suspect tries to get up and is then kicked in the head with such force his hat flies off.
Salem County's prosecutor says the suspect was left with a cut on his face.
A man at a phone number listed for Manganaro hung up when asked to comment.
