All Utahns, not just residents of Salt Lake City, have a unique opportunity to have a say in determining the future of the capital city. It comes through an initiative led by the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce dubbed "Downtown Rising."
The ambitious goal is to create a unified vision for downtown Salt Lake City - literally to "create a visionary blueprint for the future."
In KSL's view, the undertaking is both laudable and critically timed.
An infusion of investment is about to take place, driven largely by the announced intent of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to redevelop the historic core downtown area. Others, too, are planning significant projects.
So, what should the capital city of the future look like, feel like and be?
The Chamber has put forth a plan it hopes to have finalized by the end of the year. As part of the process, input is being solicited from people across the state, primarily because each Utahn, regardless of where he or she lives and for a lot of reasons, has a vested interest in the vitality of downtown Salt Lake City.
