This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Jeff Moore has always been interested in electronics. However, it wasn't until he was going to school for electronics at ITT Technical Institute that he realized he wanted a career in it.
Around the time of this realization, Jeff started working in the dictation and transcription department of a Utah business that primarily sold copiers and fax machines. He did sales and service for 15 years until 2004, when he learned the company would be eliminating the department he worked in. Jeff arranged a deal to purchase that part of the business and launched Moore Electronics a short time later.
The business started out small in the basement of Jeff's home. However, within six months Moore Electronics was successful enough that it moved into an office in Kaysville. The growth pattern has continued steadily enough that the business recently moved into another larger Kaysville location to better serve customers.
Moore Electronics provides products and solutions to help clients with their recording needs. In addition to dictation equipment, the company offers recording equipment for the courts, city councils, police departments, doctors, attorneys and transcription companies. The full-service company also does repair work, which includes making "house calls" to a client's office to fix equipment on-site.
In the four years he has been running Moore Electronics, Jeff has increased the number of manufacturers he represents to include Sony, Phillips, Olympus, Dictaphone, Lanier and Panasonic. He says digital has been taking over in many industries and the transcription and dictation business is no different. Digital products provide superior quality and are easy to use.
One factor that sets Moore Electronics apart is that employees consult personally with customers to find out what their needs are and match the product with the client's needs and budget. Even after the initial purchase, Jeff checks with clients to make sure they're happy with it. He believes his business is about taking care of customers.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
