LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Latest on a fatal shootout between a Las Vegas police officer and a man (all times local):

7:25 p.m.

Authorities say a Las Vegas police officer wounded in a shooting is in stable condition at a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say the officer was shot on the lower side of his chest and is being treated at University Medical Center.

Las Vegas TV station 8newsnow (http://bit.ly/2vlWJCF ) reports that a sergeant arrived at the scene moments after the officer was shot around 5 p.m. Monday, put him in his squad car and drove him to the hospital.

Police say a man involved in the exchange of gunfire has been found dead in his vehicle. His name hasn't been released yet.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/2hmwXbI ), police were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in front of a business on the 4100 block of West Tompkins Avenue.

The newspaper says as officers arrived, gunshots were exchanged. It's still unclear who shot first or whether the man in the vehicle shot himself or was shot by officers.

Police tell the newspaper that officers were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in front of a business on the 4100 block of West Tompkins Avenue. The Review-Journal says that as officers arrived, gunshots were exchanged.

Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Jeff Clark says it wasn't clear how many shots were fired in the incident, which took place about 5 p.m., who shot first or whether the man in the vehicle shot himself or was shot by officers, the newspaper reports.

Police in Las Vegas say an officer is in stable condition at a hospital after being shot while responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Police did not immediately identify the officer who was shot Tuesday afternoon. Sgt. Jeff Clark says the officer is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities say shots were reportedly fired as officers arrived to the scene to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle in front of a business.

Police have blocked traffic in the area where the shooting occurred. A SWAT team has responded to the scene.

Police did not immediately release information on the suspect or suspects.
