SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — It took more than four years, but Utah Gov. Gary Herbert's Water Strategy Advisory Team finally completed the state's new 50-year water management plan. Herbert on Wednesday accepted the "Recommended Water Strategy" report that maps out a plan for using water over the coming decades in Utah. Herbert offered high praise for the strategy's authors, calling their effort unprecedented and holding it up as a "model of cooperation and collaboration for the rest of nation."

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Supreme Court has upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit against Salt Lake City in the fatal shooting of a man's dog by police searching for a missing 3-year-old boy. Sean Kendall challenged state laws requiring that plaintiffs in suits against police pay a fee and post a bond. But the Supreme Court's ruling Thursday said Kendall's appeal didn't state grounds for overturning a lower court's ruling that Kendall lacked legal standing to sue.

GROUSE CREEK, Utah (AP) — Officials in extreme northwestern Utah's Box Elder County say crews are hampered by shifting winds as they battle a wildfire. County economic development director Mitch Zundel says multiple air tankers are helping fight the fire that has burned 1.5 square miles near Grouse Creek.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake County health officials are advising people to stay out of the Jordan River because of a low level of an algae-related toxin found in the water, but they say there shouldn't be a health threat for boaters. The county Health Department Health is advising people to not enter the water itself and to keep dogs from entering or drinking river water.
