OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (AP) — Three former employees of a Tennessee high school have filed a lawsuit claiming they were mistreated in the days and months after a rape scandal involving students.
News outlets report that the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, filed Monday, are former Ooltewah High School principal James Jarvis, former athletic director Allard Nayadley and former coach Andre Montgomery.
The lawsuit alleges school, county and state officials violated their constitutional rights by "illegally disseminating false facts" and "reacted in knee jerk fashion" to the case.
The Hamilton County Department of Education issued a statement saying the complaint "blames HDCE for having been stuck in the middle between two district attorneys' offices."
In December 2015, three Ooltewah High School students were charged after being accused of raping a basketball teammate during a tournament in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
