LONDON (AP) — The family of a Canadian woman who was among the seven people killed in the attacks in London says she was one of the victims struck by a van on the London Bridge. The sister of Christine Archibald's fiance says in a Facebook message to The Associated Press that the couple was on the bridge when Archibald was hit. Cassie Ferguson Rowe says her brother, Tyler Ferguson, held Archibald as she died in his arms. Archibald was 30.
LONDON (AP) — Witnesses and survivors of the attack in central London are describing eight agonizing and chaotic minutes when three men who ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge raced through nearby restaurants with knives. One man, Gerard Vowls, tried to attract the assailants' attention to save a woman he saw being stabbed repeatedly. Vowls doesn't know if she survived or was one of the seven people killed. Another witness says terrified onlookers threw bottles and food to keep the attackers at bay.
LONDON (AP) — London's Borough neighborhood offered safety and a place to sleep for hundreds of people amid the chaos of Saturday night's attack in the heart of the city. When police barricades went up, many people could not get home. So they stayed in pubs, restaurants and private homes. The neighborhood is best known for its 1,000-year-old food market and its role as the urban backdrop for major movies such as "Bridget Jones' Diary" and the "Harry Potter" series.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The United Arab Emirates and Egypt have cut diplomatic ties to Qatar. The two countries have joined Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in cutting ties to Qatar amid a growing Arab diplomatic dispute with the small, gas-rich nation.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is criticizing London's mayor on Twitter after he sought to reassure residents about a stepped-up police presence on city streets following a deadly attack there. In a series of tweets, Trump challenged London Mayor Sadiq Khan for saying there was "no reason to be alarmed." The mayor's spokesman says Trump's tweet "deliberately takes out of context" Khan's remarks.
