BOTHWELL, Utah (AP) — A 1-year-old child nearly drowned when their stroller rolled into a canal in Utah, but a passer-by was able to revive the child by performing CPR.

The child's mother was walking near a road Wednesday with her four children when her 5-year-old who was on a bike failed to stop at an intersection. The mother told deputies she let go of the stroller to stop the 5-year-old, which ended with the stroller rolling into a canal.

The child fell out of the stroller and went through a tunnel under the road. The mother then pulled the baby from the canal and a passer-by performed CPR.

Police say the child was taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to Primary Children's Hospital.

The child's condition was not available Thursday morning.
