CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A concrete spire will continue to dominate the skyline of Wyoming's second-largest city.
Wells Fargo officials announced plans last fall to demolish the 177-foot structure in Casper. They cited deterioration and concerns about the safety of people below.
The spire will be 50 years old next year and was originally built to advertise Wyoming National Bank. Now it stands over a Wells Fargo branch, and bank spokeswoman Julie Fogerson says the company has had a change of heart.
She tells the Casper Star-Tribune (http://bit.ly/2pb4x3j ) rather than demolish the spire, Wells Fargo is moving ahead with restoration.
The sleek spire isn't loved by all. Some say it resembles an eggbeater.
