KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghanistan's Defense Ministry says more than 30 people have been killed in this morning's attack on military hospital in Kabul. Gunmen stormed the hospital following an explosion and gunfire, setting off clashes with security forces. An affiliate of the Islamic State group is claiming responsibility for the attack, which happened in Kabul's heavily guarded diplomatic quarter.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump plans to meet today with conservative leaders to discuss the GOP bill to replace President Barack Obama's health care law. Conservatives are threatening to sink the GOP plan, and some have labeled it "Obama 2.0." Two House committees begin voting on the plan today, in what are expected to be marathon sessions.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Organizers of January's Women's March are calling for women to take today off and not spend money to show their economic strength and impact on American society. Today is called "A Day Without a Woman." And it's the first major action by organizers since the nationwide marches held the day after President Donald Trump's inauguration.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A man claiming to be the son of the slain half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is appearing in a YouTube video, saying he's safely with his mother and sister. Kim Jong Nam died Feb. 13, shortly after Malaysian police say two women rubbed a nerve agent on his face at an airport in Kuala Lumpur. The man in the video identifies himself as Kim Han Sol, and he says, "My father has been killed a few days ago. I'm currently with my mother and my sister. ... We hope this gets better soon."
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A paid hit man has been executed in Texas for gunning down a San Antonio woman in a life insurance scheme. Rolando Ruiz was given a lethal injection yesterday evening for fatally shooting 29-year-old Theresa Rodriguez outside her home in 1992 as she was getting out of a car. Rodriguez' husband and brother-in-law, who were with her at the time, had orchestrated her murder.
