PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah man on trial for the second time in his wife's death has been found not guilty of murder and obstruction of justice. The Daily Herald reports that the jury issued its verdict Friday afternoon acquitting 35-year-old Conrad Truman. He was accused of fatally shooting his wife, Heidy Truman, at their Orem home in 2012. Truman was convicted of murder during his first trial in 2014, but a judge later overturned that verdict due to faulty police measurements of the house.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah lawmakers have backed a resolution urging the state to be prepared to sue the U.S. government if Washington leaders don't start handing over federal land to the state. Members of a House natural resources committee on Friday approved the proposal, despite concern from one lawmaker that it could be costly and hurt the environment.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Legislative leaders and the mayors of Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County announced Friday they're abandoning two of four planned homeless resource centers for the city. Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski said at a press conference Friday that the city will not build a shelter at a controversial site in the Sugar House neighborhood where a daycare currently sits.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes is once again highlighting his work targeting human trafficking and child sexual exploitation cases, but he's declining to provide details about recent cases. The Deseret News reports that Reyes and officials from 25 agencies held a news conference Thursday to announce 16 arrests have been made this year, but refused to name the suspects or say the precise allegations against each one.
