WASHINGTON (AP) — Lawmakers have mixed views about the level of review needed surrounding the forced resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn over discrepancies about his account of contacts with a Russian envoy. Flynn's departure late yesterday came three weeks after a Justice Department warning of discrepancies. Congressional Democrats and GOP leaders agree on the ouster but not on whether there should be a major investigation. But South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham says "one good question to ask" would be whether Flynn acted on his own in discussing the sanctions imposed on Russia for elections-related hacking.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Trump administration official says U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia has deployed a cruise missile in violation of a Cold War-era arms control treaty. The Obama administration three years ago accused the Russians of violating the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty by developing and testing the cruise missile. Officials had anticipated that Moscow eventually would deploy it. Russia denies it has violated the INF Treaty. The missile deployment was first reported by The New York Times.

OROVILLE, Calif. (AP) — The nearly 200,000 northern California residents who live below a dam with a damaged spillway that threatened to collapse and cause catastrophic flooding have been told they can return. But they've been told to stay prepared to move. Water levels at Lake Oroville, about 150 miles northeast of San Francisco, are low enough to handle a storm expected this week.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — State regulators in Michigan have ordered a hospital in Flint to immediately comply with federal recommendations that were issued due to its association with a deadly Legionnaires' disease outbreak. Officials say McLaren Flint Hospital's water system is unsanitary and a possible source of illness. Flint's water system was contaminated with lead when state managers switched the source of water to the corrosive Flint River. That caused elevated blood lead levels in children, and 12 people died in the Legionnaires' disease.

KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) — A sculpture of Abraham Lincoln's hand that was stolen in Illinois from the Kankakee County Museum more than a year ago has been found in a local church. The museum director is calling it "a miracle." The plaster was found in the back of St. Rose of Lima Parish on Sunday, which was Lincoln's birthdate. A church usher found it in a bag with a note requesting that it be returned to the museum.
