WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has been told by an administration official and two other people that the Justice Department warned the Trump administration weeks ago that national security adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russia could leave him in a compromised position. At issue is a Flynn call to a Russian ambassador. Flynn said that the call didn't include references to election hacking sanctions. The White House now says the topic may have come up. The White House says President Donald Trump is "evaluating" Flynn's standing about misleading officials about his conversations with the ambassador.
McLEAN, Va. (AP) — The Trump administration faces yet another legal hurdle in implementing its travel ban. A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction against implementation of the ban in Virginia. The ruling is significant because Judge Leonie Brinkema found that an unconstitutional religious bias is at the heart of the ban. A federal appeals court in California has already upheld a national temporary restraining order.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge in Washington has refused to stop construction on the last stretch of the Dakota Access pipeline. Work on the pipeline is progressing much faster than expected and it could be operational in as little as 30 days. The Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Sioux tribes are both suing to stop the project. They are due back in court in two weeks.
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — He stood by his father, former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, as he was tried and convicted for sexual abuse of 10 boys. And now, Jeffrey Sandusky is himself facing sexual offense charges involving children. Court records show that the 41-year-old is charged with 14 counts. He's behind bars, with bond set at $200,000.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say no foul play is suspected after eight cars burned in a fire in a Disneyland parking structure. Police in Anaheim say four cars were destroyed and four more had major damage in today's blaze. Seven Disney employees were treated for smoke inhalation.
